Softwashing versus Pressure Cleaning.
How we do it safely, every time.
While these two methods can use similar machines and tools, they are very, very different...
And knowing how to cleanly perform these methods can mean the difference between a pristine job completion (fault-free), or a disaster that looks ugly and can turn into an insurance claim - and a massive loss of your time and energy.

Pressure cleaning: also known as pressure washing or power washing, is a cleaning method that uses a high-pressure water to remove dirt, grime, grease, paint, and other substances from surfaces.
It is a more forceful method and definitely has its applications where soft-washing alone may not. Often it is used in combination with soft-washing to achieve the perfect finish.
Primarily used on flat surfaces such as natural hard stone, concrete and pavers, pressure cleaning offers a more traditional and more aggressive clean when needed to lift out unwanted contaminants forcefully, but with care & skill.
There is a range of tools we use to achieve the safest and best outcome for the surfaces we are addressing.

Soft washing: an exterior cleaning method that uses low-pressure water and custom tools (brushes, sprayers and agitating devices) combined with specialized, biodegradable cleaning solutions to gently remove contaminants like algae, mold, mildew, spider webs and dirt from surfaces.
This technique is ideal for sensitive materials such as render, painted surfaces, high spec concrete, wood, certain brickwork etc which can be damaged by the high-pressure water used in traditional pressure cleaning.
Soft washing works by allowing the bio-degradable solutions to penetrate and break down organic growth, allowing for a thorough clean at a pressure level similar to a garden hose.
This method is generally a more thorough clean and can eliminate surface contaminants and sanitise areas that pressure alone cannot.
Two very different methods for cleaning exterior surfaces.
Soft-washing Vs Pressure Cleaning
Soft washing
-
Uses low water pressure, typically between 150 to 500 PSI.
-
Employs specialized biodegradable chemical cleaning solutions to break down dirt, algae, mold, mildew, and other contaminants.
-
Cleans gently by loosening grime before rinsing with low-pressure water, minimizing risk of damage.
-
Ideal for delicate surfaces such as roofs, vinyl siding, wood, stucco, and painted surfaces.
-
Avoids damage like paint wear, window seal blowing, or landscaping harm.
-
Provides longer-lasting cleaning by sanitizing and preventing regrowth of mold and algae.
Pressure Cleaning
-
Uses high water pressure, ranging from about 1,300 to 4,400 PSI or higher.
-
Relies mainly on the force of water to blast away dirt, grime, and stains.
-
Suitable for hard, durable surfaces such as concrete, stone, decks, and driveways.
-
Can cause damage to delicate materials like roofs, vinyl siding, or asphalt shingles if not carefully applied.
-
Does not typically use chemical solutions, though they can be optionally applied.
-
Effective for removing tough, embedded stains but can wear out surfaces if overused.

Soft-wash Cleaning
Custom tools, extremely gentle, eco and enviro-friendly solutions used, plant, animal and environment protective. Fully trained technicians to deliver to most effective exterior clean possible. 25 years industry experience to hone our expertise.
A lot longer than most in Melbourne for sure!
Pressure Cleaning
A more traditional and aggressive approach. High pressure water is used (with force) to remove unwanted contaminants. Most definitley has its place in general every day use under the right training and assessment of site specific surfaces.
